May 2010
The pike fishing has been excellent at the start of the season. A party of 3 using 2 boats caught 180 in 6 days, 90 of which were caught using a fly, the largest measuring 93cm. A group of 6 caught 72 over a weekend, the biggest measuring 1 metre. Our gillie, Mathew Dean also caught a 28lb pike earlier in the year in March at Bellanaleck, some 3 miles from Belle Isle. Back again to May, a party of 4 caught 250 in 6 days, the biggest measuring 93 cm. A group of 3 caught 45 in 6 days, the largest 1 metre 5cm. A party of 4 caught 139 in 6 days, the largest measuring 1 metre 4cm.
October 2009
Heavy rain had caused flooding and made pike fishing extremely difficult. And yet two Frenchmen caught 66 pike in 5 days, the biggest measuring 1 metre 3cm.
May 2009
In early May the weather was bad with appalling wind and rain and the lake very high not making fishing easy. However in spite of the weather an English fisherman managed to catch 142lb.of bream in one day with some really big ones over 4.5lb. He also caught 52lb.of roach in 4 hours. Two Frenchmen who were pike fishing were delighted when they caught and released one measuring 1 metre 20cm which would have weighed about 32/34lb.
Autumn 2008
11th October- Two fishermen staying in Bridge House caught 72 pike in 6 days using barbless hooks, the largest measuring 95cm.
At the beginning of October a party of 4 Dutchmen between them caught 252 pike in 6 days, the largest measuring 1 metre 9cm.
Spring 2008
Six anglers arrived on Easter Saturday for 6 days fishing and were delighted that they averaged 80lb. of bream a day throughout their stay at Belle Isle
In the middle of April two Dutch pike fishermen caught 66 pike in 6 days, the biggest measuring 85cm.
At the very beginning of May another group of 6 Dutchmen caught a staggering 444 pike in 6 days, the largest measuring 90cm.
